About the project
プロジェクト
Lora is an AI travel buddy. People save travel reels on TikTok and Instagram and never look at them again. Lora pulls the spots out of those reels, puts them on a map and turns them into a trip you can actually take.
The founders, Jack Peagam and Ben Whatson, designed the app themselves in Figma, down to the onboarding animations.
The challenge
挑戦
ID.5.001
Lora's first developer left with the app
half built
. The founders had a detailed design, a map that sits under every screen, and a launch to hit. They needed someone to take over the codebase and ship the
whole app
to their standard.
The solution
解決策
ID.1.001
React Native + Expo
One codebase for iOS and Android. EAS cloud builds and over-the-air updates kept the feedback loop with the founders short.
ID.1.002
Mapbox
The map is the bottom layer of the app. Spots, trips and sheets all sit on top of it.
ID.1.003
Social import
Paste a TikTok or Instagram Reel URL and Lora finds the places in it, so you can save them straight to your spots.

BYLD took over the React Native codebase in March 2026 and built Lora feature by feature from the founders' designs. We moved builds onto Expo EAS cloud builds and laid down one data model that every later feature sits on.
On top of that we built the product: a Mapbox map of saved spots, trips planned day by day, chat with Lora that streams its answers, a real-time voice call with an animated Lora avatar that falls back to text, and importing spots from a TikTok or Instagram Reel link. Lora Pro runs on RevenueCat and Superwall paywalls, with referral codes for sharing.
To match the designs, we compared builds against the Figma screens side by side on the simulator, and shipped fixes over the air with Expo so the founders could test changes without waiting on a new build.

We are so anal about UI, and you nailed it. ... Genuinely, looking at the UI, it's so good.
